DASH Partnering with Carpenter’s Shelter to Bring Back “Stuff the Bus” Donation Drive

DASH is excited to announce that “Stuff the Bus” is back! The donation drive for winter clothing, canned goods, and toiletries is a beloved DASH holiday tradition that will take place at various locations in Alexandria from Monday, December 11 to Friday, December 15. All donations will benefit the Carpenter’s Shelter, a local organization that provides emergency shelter to families and adults or are experiencing homelessness in the City of Alexandria.

“We are excited to bring back this tradition and look forward to this opportunity to help our neighbors in need this holiday season,” said Josh Baker, DASH’s CEO/General Manager.

“Residents of the shelter regularly share their gratitude with our team about the support they receive in their time of need. The community’s generosity makes a big difference. We greatly appreciate this partnership with DASH.” said Shannon Steene, Carpenter’s Shelter Executive Director.

On behalf of Carpenter’s Shelter, Stuff the Bus will accept donations of select clothing items in youth and adult sizes, as well as shelf-stable food and essential toiletries.

  • Underwear
  • Socks

Food:

  • Canned food
  • Cereals
  • Pasta
  • Boxed Mac and Cheese
  • Oatmeal
  • Individually packaged snacks like applesauce and granola bars

Toiletries:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Body Wash
  • Soap
  • Baby Shampoo
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Baby Wipes
  • Toilet Paper

2023 Stuff the Bus Donation Drop-Off Locations:

  • Potomac Yard Shopping Center, Monday, December 11 | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • King Street Metro Station, Tuesday, December 12 | 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Van Dorn Metro Station, Wednesday, December 13 | 9 a.m. to noon
  • Bradlee Shopping Center, Thursday, December 14 | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • City Hall/Market Square, Friday, December 15 | 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Donations may also be dropped off at DASH’s offices located at 3000 Business Center Drive. Donations will be accepted at DASH’s offices from Monday, December 11 to Friday, December 18 during regular customer service hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
