Masks Required in Public in Virginia Effective May 29

February 3, 2020

Governor Northam announced on Tuesday, May 26 that Northern Virginia may begin Phase I of the Forward Virginia reopening plan on Friday, May 29. However, face coverings will be mandatory in many public spaces, including restaurants, shops and public transit. According to federal, state and local health officials, wearing a cloth face covering can reduce the spread of coronavirus between individuals even if they are not showing symptoms. The policy will be enforced by the Virginia Department of Health.

The mask mandate is consistent with DASH’s requirement that all passengers wear face coverings while riding DASH. Since May 18, we have required passengers to wear face coverings while onboard all DASH buses. Although many of our passengers were already taking this step, we felt that the requirement was necessary to promote safety and well-being. Visit dashbus.com/maskpolicy for more information on DASH’s mask requirement.
