Youth Sports
General InformationThe Youth Sports Office is currently seeking volunteers to coach youth baseball, softball, swimming, track and field, football, basketball, cheerleading and volleyball. Criminal background checks are required by all volunteer coaches. Coaches are provided training opportunities. Registration forms for sports leagues may be obtained through Alexandria Schools, Libraries, Recreation Centers, and the Youth Sports Office at 1108 Jefferson St. Fees and programs are subject to change. Registration for all Youth Sport leagues and activities must be accompanied by a birth certificate. Only City of Alexandria residents are eligible to participate in the youth sports programs listed below. Registration Information: Teams are formed through Recreation Center Districts, not school boundaries. Registration forms may be obtained through Alexandria Schools, Libraries, Recreation Centers, and the Youth Sports Office at 1108 Jefferson St. After the league registration deadline, players will be assessed a late fee and will be placed on teams based on space availability. Registration forms can be downloaded from this page, completed and mailed in with required fees and information to the Youth Sports Division at 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria Virginia 22314-3999. Teams are formed in Anklebiter, 75, 85, 95, 110, 125 & 150 pound weight categories. Practices will begin in August with league play beginning in September. Teams participate in the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL). Current Virginia DMV I.D. required for players. The Alexandria Titans Youth Football Program Results
On Saturday, November 14, the Alexandria Titans Youth Football program hosted four championship football games at Parker-Gray Memorial Stadium. Seven of 13 Titan teams made the Fairfax County Youth Football League playoffs this season and three teams reached the finals.
Registration Information: The flag football league is a devel¬opmental program that will introduce participants to the sport. The first week of the program will be a clinic to introduce the participants to the skills and rules of the game. Participants will be divided into teams for league games with no playoff games. The players will use a flag belt system for the games. Games will be played on Saturdays at George Washington Middle School beginning in late September. Age is determined by the age of the participant as of October 1, 2010. The maximum enrollment is 100 participants.

Registration Information: Six (6) Saturday classes Nov 6 - Dec18 (No class 11/27). Classes are offered for one hour. Age is determined by the age of the participant as of December 31, 2010. The maximum enrollment is 30 participants per session.

Mt. Vernon Recreation Center

Registration Information: Four (4) Saturday classes Nov 6 – Dec 4 (No class 11/27).
The camp staff will teach the very basics of basketball such as ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, rebounding. Participants will improve their basketball skills in a safe and positive environment. Classes are offered for one hour. Age is determined by the age of the participant as of December 31, 2010. The maximum enrollment is 30 participants.

Registration Information: Teams are formed in the 8, 10, 12, 14 and 17 & under leagues. New this season… the 8 & under division will not be co-ed. Practices begin in late November and league play begins January 2011. League age is determined by the age of the participant as of March 31, 2011. Boys’ teams in the 14 & 17 under divisions will be formed by skill assessment. The maximum enrollment is 950 participants.

Registration Information: Learn the basic cheerleading skills and techniques. Teams are formed at the neighborhood recreation and afterschool centers in the developmental, junior varsity and varsity levels. Age is determined by the age of the participant as of April 30, 2011. The maximum enrollment is 300 participants.

Alexandria Boxing Club, Inc. Learn basic boxing skills. The boxing program consists of training in eight disciplines, and all necessary equipment is provided.
