DASH Seeks Public Comment on Proposed 2026-2027 Service Updates

March 20, 2026

DASH is excited to announce the start of the public comment period for the FY 2027 Alexandria Transit Strategic Plan (ATSP) Update. From March 20 to April 22, the public is invited to share their feedback on DASH’s current service via our online form (Available in Amharic, Arabic, English, Persian/Dari, and Spanish). All feedback received will help DASH prioritize which improvements should be made, should additional funding become available.

Thanks to the City of Alexandria’s support, DASH does not foresee any cuts to current services over the next year, including a one year extension of the Line 32 frequency improvement between Van Dorn Metro Station & the West Alexandria Transit Center. All input will be compiled and presented to DASH’s Board of Directors prior to finalizing the FY 2027 budget. Once approved, the new budget and service updates will be in effect from July 2026 through June 2027.

FY 2027 ATSP Update

Key service improvement priorities identified through the FY 2027 budget process are listed below:

  • Increase Line 32 (King St. Metro – West Alexandria Transit Center) frequency from 60 minutes to 30 minutes during off-peak periods and weekends
  • Increase Line 31 (NVCC – Braddock Rd. Metro) frequency in Old Town from every 30 minutes to 15 minutes during off-peak periods and weekends
  • Additional service improvements across the network remain priorities pending future funding availability

Though not funded in FY 2027, these improvements represent DASH’s highest service priorities identified to date. By increasing frequency and reliability, enhanced transit service would continue to break down barriers for transit-first residents, broadening access to jobs, health care, childcare, and other essential services.

Community and performance feedback will continue to shape future planning efforts and surface new priorities as resources allow.
